JWQC annual recognition function organised
Jamshedpur, March 30: Joint Works Quality Committee (JWQC), Tata Steel and Total Quality Management (TQM) department, Tata Steel jointly organized the JWQC Annual Recognition Function at the Archery Ground, JRD Tata Sports Complex on March 29.
The event recognised the contributions of employees and departments in Small Group Activities (SGA), MASS, Daily Management (DM), 5S & Visual Workplace Management (VWM).
The awards to 60 winning teams were presented by the Chief Guest, TV Narendran, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Steel and the Guest of Honour, Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary, President, Tata Workers’ Union.
The welcome address for the event was given by Harishankar Singh, Chairperson JWQC. He elaborated on the importance of Gemba, which was the theme for this year’s JWQC event.
Narendran, who was delighted to witness huge participation of employees and their spouses for the JWQC Annual Recognition function, expressed the importance of how identification of internal challenges and overcoming them with agility has been at the core of Tata Steel’s success over the last few years.
Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary elaborated on the 5S which originated in Japan. He lauded the 5S & Visual Workplace Management assessments and recognition, for best performing departments and its contribution to a safer and more efficient workplace. He reinforced the need for addressing the areas of Slip, Trip and fall and man-machine interface with respect to safety.
The Deming Trophy (Best Division in promoting improvement initiatives at the shop floor) went to Shared Services while the UDPA Trophy (Best Department in promoting improvement initiatives at the shop floor) went to I Blast Furnace.
On this occasion, two new books – ‘Workbook on Jishu Hozen’ and ‘Best Improvement Ideas Through Employee Involvement 2021-22’ were digitally launched in view of sustainable practices.
Divyanshu Srivastava, Secretary JWQC presented the JWQC report for 2022-2023. The event culminated with the vote of thanks by Avneesh Gupta, Vice President, TQM and Engineering & Projects, Tata Steel. He expressed gratitude towards the team who successfully organised the JWQC function and congratulated all participants and winners.
