Jamshedpur : Tata Steel celebrated the 155 th birth anniversary of Sir Dorabji Tata on Wednesday at Sir Dorabji Tata Park, Jamshedpur.
Floral tributes were paid by the senior officials of the company and other Tata Group companies, employees, senior citizens of the city, other office bearers and officials of the Union from various departments of Tata Steel.
Addressing the gathering chief guest, Sunil Bhaskaran, vice president, corporate services, Tata Steel, said that Sir Dorabji was a great visionary. His approach and farsightedness made it possible for him to materialize every dream that his father, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, had seen. He played an important role in developing India as a sporting nation.
Bhaghwan Singh, assistant secretary, Tata Workers� Union said that it was Dorabji Tata, more than anyone else who realised the majestic objectives of his father. He believed that the interests of any one set of people are closely bound up with the interests of the whole land.
Bhaskaran also inaugurated a thematic exhibition on Tata�s life and times at the same venue. The exhibition showcases Sir Dorabji as an administrator and facilitator of the many projects envisaged by JN Tata and also as sportsperson, patron, and supporter of the Olympic movements in India. As a part of the celebrations, the Dorabji Park has been illumined.
