Jamshedpur: Apex Safety Standard and Contractor Safety Management Sub-Committee of Tata Steel organized Vendor Partner Meet on Thursday at Steelenium Hall with the aim to facilitate a two-way communication related to safety.
The subject of deliberation during the meet was Quality of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the contract workers and supervisors.
Chairman, Apex Safety Standard and Contractor Safety Management, Suresh Kumar, vice-president, Shared Services, Tata Steel emphasized on Tata Steel�s goal of Zero fatality, for which he urged the vendors to follow safety rules and ensure the usage of standard PPE�s. He further added that �Safety is Good Business� because safe working condition is the key to enhance productivity.
J P Singh, chief 3 MTPA, Engineer Project, Tata Steel who was also present on the occasion said that there is a gap between safety policies and their implementation leading to accidents. Hence the Vendor Partner Meet is an initiative to discuss Safety related issues with special focus on PPEs and to come out with solutions.
The event also included informative sessions on the usage of Standard and adequate quality of PPEs. There was also a discussion on various measures that the company can adopt to solve the issues related to poor quality of PPEs.
