Noamundi, Dec. 21: Tata Steel organized a two day agriculture meet ‘Vaarta’ on Wednesday at Sports Complex, Noamundi.
The programme is being organized with an objective to guide and handhold local farmers to adopt best agricultural practices. It is also to improve their productivity and promote upland farming, non timber forest products, vegetable, animal husbandry and economic crop farming.
More than 350 famers from Noamundi and Katamati area turned up for the agricultural meet – Vaarta. The strategy behind this programme is also to identify those progressive farmers and encourage them to lead and disseminate their learning’s amongst their fellow farmers in their own locality. To orient and educate the farmers, specialists and resource persons were invited.
The two day event was graced by Pankaj Satija, GM (OMQ) as chief guest along with other dignitaries on dais Ravi Kishore Ram, CO, Noamundi, MrAmren Dang, BDO, Noamundi, Laxmi Soren, Zila Parishad, Noamundi, Debdoot Mohanty, Head CSR, Tata Steel, Jharskhand, Niranjan Bobong, Manki, Surendra Chatumba, Manki, Nileema Ekka, District Fishery Officer and Sisir Tarafdar, Head TSRDS (Tata Steel Rural Development Society), Noamundi.
Also scientists and resource persons from various reputed organizations like Dr. Jogesh, DrArshad, Dr S Swain, Dr Hembram also joined on this occasion. The programme started with lighting of lamp by the dignitaries followed by the inaugural session. To encourage and educate farmers various stalls related to agriculture and farming were displayed in the venue by TSRDS and other organizations.
Satija highlighted about the challenge of climate change in agriculture and thus stressed on multi crop farming. Mining and agriculture should complement each other and concluded his speech with a hope that the programme will be fruitful in all aspects.
