Tata Steel organizes sport events on National Sports Day

Jamshedpur: Urban Services, Tata Steel organised various sport events for Game Instructors, Voluntary Instructors, Social Workers, teachers of women empowerment, pre-matric and adult literacy classes at Security Training Centre Ground, Jamshedpur, on Friday on the occasion of National Sports Day.

Various sporting activities were organised such as Hit the wicket, Pick and run, Balance race, Spoon and marble race, shot put throw, hit the target, bombing the city and tug-of-war.

Around 300 participants from various centres took part in the programme. R S Pandey, Senior Manager, Urban Services flagged off the event.

Swastika Basu, Chief, Procurement (MRO and Services), Tata Steel graced the occasion as the chief guest for the women sports programme and awarded the winners.

A �Cross Country Championship� was also organized at K-S Link Road , Kadma for the youth of the bustees of various community centres. About 500 youth participated in the event in various categories.

Ritu Raj Sinha, Chief Corporate Services, Tata Steel graced the occasion as the chief guest and Areef Imam, former DSP, Jamshedpur as the guest of honour for the event and awarded the winners.

Urban Services imparts trainings in various sporting disciplines across its twelve community centres. Such trainings help in identifying and nurturing latent sports talent and also provide constructive guidance to the youths.

Urban Services units organise inter-centre events regularly to prepare budding players for state and national level competitions.
