Jamshedpur, April 18: Tata Steel’s Safety Department organised Safe Talk reiterating its commitment for safety awareness for stakeholders by the subject-matter experts.
Probal Ghosh, Vice President Shared Services, Tata Steel delivered the keynote address on “Contractor Safety Management Journey and Way Forward” at Steelennium Hall inside Jamshedpur Works.
He explained about the genesis of Contractor Safety Management as a key focus area in achieving aim of “Zero Incident- Zero Harm” workplace. He added the necessity of moving from People Centric system to Processes being System Centric. He expressed his concerns to achieve zero harm workplace by way of avoiding shortcuts, following stringent safety standards and Standard Operating Procedures with continuous supervision. He also stressed on improving ability to comprehend hazards and conditions and following 5E’s (Enlighten, Encourage, Empower, Envision and Engage) for workforce which would ensure zero harm workplace.

The Safe Talk concluded with Question & Answer Session. More than 700 officers, trainees and contract workers attended the session physically, while 300 people attended the session online from across Tata Steel. Rajiv Mangal, Vice President, Safety, Health & Sustainability, Tata Steel in his concluding remarks said that Safe Talk should be a platform for improving existing process for a safer workplace.
Safe Talk series, organised by Tata Steel’s Safety Department is aimed at bringing safety awareness and current insights and knowledge by the subject-matter experts on various aspects of safety and knowledge enrichment.
