Tata Steel organises Jyoti Fellowship Award Function in Chaibasa

Jamshedpur : As a part of its Affirmative Action policy, Tata Steel offers Jyoti Fellowship to meritorious students from economically backward Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families to enable them accomplish educational and career aspirations.

Tata Steel�s Tribal Cultural Society identifies deserving candidates from its operational areas on the basis of merit test.

This year, Tribal Cultural Society organized Jyoti Fellowship Award Function in Chaibasa today at the Tribal Research and Training Centre, Lupungutu. Shukla Mohanty, pro-vice chancellor, Kolhan University was the chief guest.

In FY 12-13, a total of 147 students were provided Jyoti Fellowship. In FY13-14, Jyoti Fellowship was given to 201 students of Chaibasa who are pursuing education at school and college level.

Overall 1500 meritorious SC/ST students from Jharkhand were given Jyoti Fellowship. All the school level awardees were also given a solar lantern and certificate.

To further motivate the students, top five scorers of the merit tests organized by Tribal Cultural Society were given a tablet computer.
