Jamshedpur: On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, T.V. Narendran, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TSN and CEO & Managing Director of Tata Steel Ltd, visited the Tata Steel Chess Tournament in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands.
He opened the 10th round of the ‘Wimbledon of Chess’ and had a brief meet & greet with the participants from India.
Narendran was impressed by the tournament. He is no stranger to chess, as since 2018, there has also been a Tata Steel Chess India tournament, which follows a similar concept to the one in Wijk aan Zee, featuring amateurs, youth activities, and the highest-ranked players in the world.
Chess is extremely popular in India, especially since Gukesh D. from India became the youngest world champion in chess in December last year.
