Jamshedpur, June 24: Jharkhand State E-Kata Championship was organized virtually by Jharkhand State Karate Do Association( JSKA) in association with Sports Division, Tata Steel, on the occasion of Olympic Day on June 22 and 23.
275 students from 18 districts of the state participated in the Championship while 20 referees from different districts judged the tournament.
Students of Tata Steel Karate Training Centre performed brilliantly and won 8 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze medals.
East Singhbhum district bagged the first spot in the Championship followed by students of West Singhbhum. Ranchi was third while Bokaro was in the fourth position.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Chief Guest Farzan Heerjee, Chief, Protocol and Sports, Tata Steel in presence of R. Ravi Prasad, President, JSKA, Guest of Honour Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief, Sports Excellence Centre, Tata Steel and Special Guest Ashish Kumar, Head, Sports, Tata Steel and Anand Menezes, Olympian and Sr. Manager, Tata Steel.
During the closing ceremony on Wednesday, June 23, Chief Guest was Dr. Nitin Kulkarni, IAS and Guest of Honour was Ashu Shukla, DIG, CRPF, Jamshedpur.
All the above dignitaries have appreciated this E-kata Championship and thanked all the participants who attended the event virtually from the comfort of their homes to keep Covid at bay.
