Tata Steel Jamshedpur wins two National Sports Awards

Tata Steel committed to building a holistic sports ecosystem: Chief Sports Mukul Choudhari

Jamshedpur, December 15: Tata Steel has been honoured with two prestigious national awards in recognition of its long-standing contribution to the promotion and development of sports in India. The company received accolades at the Sports Science India Awards 2025 in Bhubaneswar and the 3rd CII Sports Business Awards 2025 in New Delhi.

At the Sports Science India Awards held on December 6, 2025, at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, Tata Steel was conferred with the SSI Sports Development Award for Advancing Sports in India. The award ceremony was attended by several eminent personalities, including Manoj Ahuja, IAS, Sachin R Jadhav, IAS, Amitabh Thakur, IPS, and former Indian hockey captain Dilip Tirkey.

The award was received by Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief Sports, Tata Steel, and CEO & MD of Jamshedpur FC, on behalf of the company. The honour recognised Tata Steel’s sustained efforts in building a strong sports ecosystem rooted in the vision of its founder Jamsetji Tata, who had envisioned dedicated spaces for sports in Jamshedpur.

Further strengthening its legacy, Tata Steel was also honoured with the Legacy of Excellence in Sports Patronage Award at the 3rd CII Sports Business Awards 2025 held on December 9, 2025, in New Delhi. Mukul Vinayak Choudhari accepted the award and highlighted Tata Steel’s historic association with Indian sports, tracing it back to Sir Dorabji Tata’s role in founding the Indian Olympic Association in 1919.

Speaking on the occasion, Choudhari said the awards reaffirm Tata Steel’s belief in the power of sports to build character and leadership. He added that the company remains committed to nurturing talent through world-class infrastructure, academies and grassroots programmes.

Tata Steel’s sports institutions have produced numerous national and international athletes, earning 42 Arjuna Awards and six Dronacharya Awards, reinforcing its enduring legacy in Indian sports.

Tata Steel has a long-standing history of promoting sports, including establishing world-class academies for football (Tata Football Academy), archery (Tata Archery Academy), and supporting various sporting events and initiatives like Jamshedpur FC, Tata Kids of Steel Triathlon, and the Tata Steel Chess Tournament. These recognitions underscore the company’s significant and sustained impact on the Indian sports landscape.
