Jamshedpur, May 27: In a bid to make the organization gender sensitive, Tata Steel has decided to make the application process for availing maternity and miscarriage leave easier and simpler.
Sources said the company has issued a circular declaring that filling in physical forms for maternity leave extension and miscarriage leave is no longer required. Now women employees may apply online through SAP. Doctor’s certificates may also be uploaded along with the application. Earlier, the women employees were required to fill in physical forms. Now the compulsory certification by company doctor has also been done away with by the company. Now certificates issued by external doctors will also be acceptable for leave. Also, manual signature is not required anymore on the leave application as leave would be granted on the approval of the reporting manager, sources said.
