Tata Steel Jamshedpur employee dies on duty

Jamshedpur:  Permanent Tata Steel employee Bhaiya Lal (51 years) died at LD Steel of LD-1 around 4 am on Sunday, November 22. 

According to fellow employees, Lal was working in Continuous Caster (CC-2) of LD-1 and died due to heart attack while on duty. Bhaiya Lal was working in the Caster of CC-2.

When a ladle came, Bhaiya Lal started to chortle while lancing it. He was caught by fellow employees and rushed to the primary health center built in the company.

Seeing the situation worsening, the doctors took him by ambulance to Tata Main Hospital (TMH). After investigation, doctors declared him dead.

After receiving information about the incident, the departmental committee member cum Tata Workers Union treasurer Prabhat Lal, committee member Manoj Kumar, including departmental chief Ashutosh, head PK Pandey and personal officer Vikas Pradhan reached the spot. Bhaiya Lal lived with his family in Jugsalai’s Bengali Pada. He is survived by his wife, a son and three daughters. He had a daughter married.

 “We are extremely sorry to inform and share the sudden death of Bhaiya Lal (Age: 51 yrs), Senior Operator at LD 1, Jamshedpur. On November 22 at around 3:50 am, Bhaiya Lal while on duty at LD 1, suddenly collapsed on the ground.  He was immediately given emergency treatment and brought to TMH along with the doctor on duty. He was clinically declared brought dead at TMH emergency. The body will be sent for Post Mortem post addressing all medical protocols. The family of Bhaiya Lal has been informed and the Company expresses deep sense of grief and stands by the family in this difficult moment in time. The family will receive all support as per the Company’s policy. Tata Steel is committed to the health and safety of its employees and continuously strive towards ensuring a safe workplace for all its employees,” the company said in a statement.
