Jamshedpur, Oct 19: The tenth edition of Johar Haat, a weeklong exhibition was organised by Tata Steel Foundation from October 14-20, 2023. The exhibition organised at Prakriti Vihar in Kadma witnessed participation of entrepreneurs from Jharkhand, Odisha and Maharashtra representing over 5 tribal groups including Santhal, Ho, Gond, Bhumij.
This month, the exhibition was based on the theme of “Essence of Sohrai”. Sohrai is a harvest festival, also celebrated as a cattle festival across Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and West Bengal. Several workshops were also organized in the week, such as one on Sohrai painting, jute craft, tribal cuisine among others.
Johar Haat was conceptualised to create a dedicated space for exhibiting the art, craft, cuisine, and culture of tribes across India through a week-long exhibition every month. The first edition of Johar Haat was organised in January this year.
