Tata Steel employees take ethics pledge as celebrations kick-off

Jamshedpur, July 1: Ethics month celebrations across all locations in Tata Steel kicked off on July 1, 2022. The day marked the beginning of a month-long celebration to reinforce Tata Steel’s commitment to ethics. The employees also took the ethics pledge.

The theme for this year is ‘Respectful workplace today for an inclusive tomorrow’. This theme emphasises Tata Steel’s goal towards being a future-ready organisation by focusing on the importance of the values of unity, equality, inclusion & diversity.

Every year, the month of July is celebrated in Tata Steel as the Ethics Month in keeping with the tradition of fostering ethical practices in the workplace. This year, various competitions are being lined up not only for the employees but for employees’ children too. For the employees, contests such as photography and video-making, quizzes, polls, etc., are being organised. Poster-making & essay contest is being conducted for the employee’s children. Additionally, to touch base with various stakeholders including the partners, events like round tables, business associate meets, training sessions, webinars, and an online musical event are also planned to reinforce the value of ethics.

In view of the prevalent COVID-19 pandemic situation, the events are being organised across the locations in a hybrid mode while following all COVID-19 protocols.

Tata Steel strongly believes in Ethical Business Conduct from the time of its inception. These ethical values were first articulated through Tata Code of Conduct (TCOC) in the year 1998. The Company’s Code of Conduct has set a guideline with respect to standard of behaviour to be followed by the Company, its employees and other business partners and all employees and business partners of Tata Steel signs this TCOC compliance undertaking before joining work.
