Tata Steel defeats Tata Motors to crown Premier Division Football League champions

Jamshedpur, Aug. 12: Tata Steel defeated Tata Motors by 2 goals to 1 in the final to win the JSA Premier Division Football League, at Keenan Stadium on Saturday.

Gaurav Mukhi scored both the goals for Tata Steel at 31st and 66th minute and helped his team take the winner’s trophy.

Deepak Tudu scored the consolation for Tata Motors at 71st minute to help reduce the win the margin. Team Tata Steel dominated the proceedings since the beginning and didnít allow the Tata Motors boys to enter the playing area.

Red Card was given to Tata Steel’s Ghanshyam Murmu in the 29th minute while Amrit Gope of Tata Motors was handed in the 78th minute.

Crowd in large number was present to witness the final match between the two heavy weights of the Premier Division League.

The stands of the Keenan Stadium were chock-a -block before the start of the match on Saturday afternoon. This gives us an impression of how the JRD Tata Sports Complex will resemble when Jamshedpur FC side takes to ground during the Indian Super League season 4 staring November 17.

After the match the prize distribution ceremony was held where Sunil Bhaskaran, President, Jamshedpur Sporting Association (JSA) and vice-president, corporate services, Tata Steel was present as the chief guest.

Also present was Indian footballer and Jamshedpur FC player Mehtab Hussain who witnessed the local talent in action.

Parwat Kisku of Tata Steel was awarded the Best Goal Keeper who won the Ramesh Mehta Memorial Trophy. Mehtab Hussain gave away the award. Bimal Kuwnar of Narwa Pahar who scored 11 goals was awarded as Highest Scorer and received P Vijay Kumar Memorial Trophy.
International Footballer Asim Biswas gave away the trophy.

Fair Play Trophy was awarded to PRMC team in the name of Avik Roy Memorial Trophy. Avik was a student of Rajendra Vidayalaya.
He died of Brain Tumer and was the captain of Rajendra Vidyalaya School Football team.

This trophy was donated by his parents Mrs and Mr. Sujoy Roy. Fair play trophy was given by Ravi Radhakrishnan, Working President, JSA along with parents of Avik Roy.

Chief Guest Sunil Bhaskaran gave winner trophy to Tata Steel team and Runner Up trophy to Tata Motors. D Mukherjee (Kotai Da) was honored by JSA for his contribution in Football by Sunil Bhaskaran.

He has played in Santosh Trophy and other tournament from 1960 to 1964.

S B Singh of JSA Sub Committee was felicitated for his service in JSA as 30 years by Mukul Vinayak Choudhari. Also present were Avinash Kumar, Hony Secy, JSA, Zubair Alam, Chairman Football Committee, Hassan Imam, all the members of JSA Football sub Committee and others.
