Tata Steel Board meeting focuses on expansion in Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar

Jamshedpur, Feb. 2: The Board of Directors of Tata Steel here on Thursday discussed expansion plans for the company�s Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar plants.

Sources confirmed that the two major expansion plans of Tata Steel were discussed at the meeting. The company has 10.5 million tonnes of capacity of Hot Metal production in Jamshedpur plant, which is being further enhanced to 11.5 million tonnes.

The steel city played host to the meeting of Tata Steel�s Board of Directors for the first time in over two decades at the company�s General Office in Bistupur.

The Board meeting commenced at 10.30 am and continued for three hours at the board room adjacent to the Tata Steel MD�s office. It was attended by all the 10 directors of the Board along with the company secretary and compliance officer Parvatheesam Kanchinadham.

All the Board directors and the company secretary had come in company�s planes. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran, former SBI chairman O.P. Bhatt, Chairman Emeritus of Eicher Group of Companies, Subodh Bhargava and Tata Group executive director (finance and corporate), Koushik Chatterjee, non-independent and non-executive directors Ishaat Hussain and D. K Mehrotra and Andrew M. Robb had arrived yesterday at Sonari airport.

Two more directors, Dr Peter Blauwhoff and Mallika Srinivasan (both independent, non-executive directors) and the company secretary arrived today in the morning.
