Tata Steel Launches AEP 2026 Recruitment Drive for Engineer Trainees, Offers ₹7.4 Lakh CTC Opportunity

Jamshedpur: Tata Steel has announced the launch of its prestigious Aspiring Engineer Programme (AEP) 2026, inviting applications from engineering graduates and final-year students across the country for positions as Engineer Trainees. The programme offers an opportunity to build a career in one of India’s leading steel companies, with postings across multiple locations nationwide.

According to the official notification, candidates with full-time B.E., B.Tech, or B.Sc Engineering degrees in disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Metallurgy, Mining, Mineral, and Ceramic engineering are eligible to apply. Students graduating in 2026, as well as those who graduated in 2025, can submit their applications. The company has also extended eligibility to candidates who joined engineering programmes laterally after completing a diploma.

Eligibility and Reservation Norms

Applicants must have secured a minimum of 65% marks or 6.5 CGPA, while candidates from SC, ST, PwD, and trans person categories require at least 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA. The maximum age limit is 30 years for general candidates and 32 years for reserved categories as of January 1, 2026. Preference will be given to candidates domiciled in Jharkhand, Odisha, Punjab, and Maharashtra.

Training, Salary, and Career Growth

Selected candidates will undergo a one-year training period as Engineer Trainees, during which they will receive a monthly stipend of ₹30,000 along with medical coverage. Upon successful completion of training, candidates may be absorbed as Assistant Managers with an annual CTC of approximately ₹7.4 lakh, along with additional benefits as per company policy.

The company stated that trainees will be evaluated regularly, and only those meeting performance and qualification requirements will be considered for permanent roles.

Application Process and Important Dates

The online application process commenced on February 16, 2026, and will remain open until March 9, 2026. Interested candidates can apply through the official Tata Steel website. Call letters for the online test are expected to be released in the second or third week of March.

Applicants are required to pay an application fee of ₹500 through the online payment gateway. The company has clarified that it is not associated with any external agency for recruitment and all communication will be conducted through official email channels.

Selection Process

The selection process will include an online functional domain test followed by a behavioural assessment. Shortlisted candidates will then be called for interviews, either virtually or in person. The company has warned that canvassing in any form will lead to automatic disqualification.
