Tata Motors Workers Union’s blood donation drive collects 2,906 units

Jamshedpur:  In a remarkable humanitarian initiative, Tata Motors Workers Union successfully organized a mega blood donation camp at the Telco Labour Bureau on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great industrialist Jamshet Ji Tata. The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with a total of 2,906 units of blood collected. Aimed at supporting the city’s blood banks and ensuring life-saving resources for those in need, the camp saw enthusiastic participation from Tata Motors employees, workers from various industries and local residents.

To encourage and honor the donors, several political leaders, social activists and senior officials from Tata Motors’ management attended the event. Union President Gurmeet Singh and General Secretary RK Singh extended a warm welcome to all guests, presenting them with bouquets and shawls as a token of appreciation. They also monitored the arrangements to ensure a smooth donation process. The union set up six registration counters for the convenience of donors and arranged 45 beds to facilitate an efficient and organized event. Employees from Jamshedpur Blood Bank, volunteers, blood coordinators and committee members played a crucial role in managing the program.

Before the camp commenced, attendees paid tribute to Jamshet Ji Tata by garlanding his picture and reflecting on his contributions to industry and society. Expressing gratitude after the event, Union President Gurmeet Singh stated that the large turnout demonstrated the deep admiration people hold for Tata Saheb. He remarked that the event was dedicated to him and those in need of blood, thanking everyone for their participation. General Secretary RK Singh echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the pride the union felt in witnessing such a strong community response. He extended heartfelt thanks to all donors and expressed hope that they would continue supporting similar initiatives in the future.

A highlight of the event was the felicitation of century blood donors—individuals who had donated blood numerous times. Among them, Anupam Ghosh (105 times), Anand Prasad (111 times), Kamal Ghosh (84 times), Praveen Kumar (82 times) and Rupesh Kumar (44 times) were honored with shawls and special recognition for their dedication to saving lives.

The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including senior Tata Motors officials such as ED Grish Wagh, VP Vishal Badshah, Plant Head Sunil Tiwari, HR Head Praveen Kumar, IR Head Soumik Roy and Administration Head Vivekanand Singh, along with General Managers and DGMs of various departments. Medical professionals such as Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dr. S.L. Shrivastava, Dr. Arunima Verma, Dr. Pawan Kumar, Dr. Adil, Dr. Sunil Kumar and Dr. Ayush were also present. Political leaders and social workers, including Marketing Board Chairman Ravindra Singh, Congress leader Ramshray Prasad, BJP leader Dinesh Kumar, INTUC leader Rakeshwar Pandey, MP Bidyut Baran Mahto, JMM leader Mahavir Murmu and several Zila Parishad members, graced the occasion with their presence.

This mega blood donation camp, one of the largest in the region, proved to be a resounding success, reinforcing the community’s commitment to humanitarian efforts. It served as a fitting tribute to Jamshet Ji Tata’s legacy of social service and industry-driven welfare. The event not only helped save lives but also strengthened the spirit of unity and compassion among the people of Jamshedpur.
