Tata Motors Workers’ Union: Tribute Paid to Labour Leader Michael John on Death Anniversary

Jamshedpur, August 3: Members of Tata Motors Workers’ Union (TMWU) paid respect to labour leader Michael John on the occasion of his 46th death anniversary on Thursday. Rich tributes were paid to the late labour leader on the occasion.

The union members offered flowers in front of Michael John’s portrait in the union office and paid their tributes. Later, they placed flowers on his grave and lit candles in his memory. TMWU General Secretary RK Singh observed that Michael John had made invaluable contributions to the labour movement. “He was always up in arms for the protection of workers’ interests and continuously fought for the rights of labourers. He stood side by side with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and fought for the rights of the working class and earning respect of the management. He participated actively in the ‘Quit India’ movement. From 1948 to 1960, He served as the President of Bihar Pradesh INTUC between 1948 and 1960.”

TMWU members pledged to follow the path shown by Michael John and would continue working for the welfare of workers. President Gurmeet Singh and all office bearers and committee members were present on this occasion.
