Tata Motors Workers Union Jamshedpur President accused of usurping widow’s house

Jamshedpur, Mar 12: Harjeet Kaur, widow of late Jagjit Singh and a resident of Jamshedpur, has come forward seeking justice, accusing Gurmeet Singh Tote, the President of Tata Motors Workers Union. Kaur alleges that Tote, along with his son Amrik Singh and associates, forcefully took possession of her house and land in Birsanagar. According to her, when she protested against this action, she faced verbal abuse, threats, and physical assault.

Harjeet Kaur, along with her son-in-law Sarabjit Singh, shared details during a press conference, revealing that her late husband, Jagjit Singh, had purchased the house in Birsanagar from Balwinder Singh, with all the necessary documents in their possession. The house was subsequently rented out. After Jagjit Singh’s demise, Harjeet Kaur continued the tenancy, which was later vacated by the tenant, Rajendra Yadav, last October. However, she recently discovered that Gurmeet Singh Tote had taken over her property in the name of one of his transport workers.

Upon visiting the house with her son-in-law Sarabjit Singh, son, sister-in-law, and others, they encountered Gurmeet Singh Tote, his son Amrik Singh, and several associates. A confrontation ensued, involving verbal and physical abuse, as well as threats, including the display of a revolver with threats of harm. Disturbed by the turn of events, Harjeet Kaur and her family filed a complaint at the CGPC office in Sakchi on Tuesday.

However, Kaur alleges that even at the CGPC office, Gurmeet Singh Tote and his associates were present and continued their threats. She further accused CGPC President Bhagwan Singh of supporting Tote and failing to deliver justice. According to Kaur, the threats extended to political connections, claiming that Tote mentioned influential figures in the BJP as shields against any harm. Dissatisfied with the response from CGPC, Kaur stated her intention to approach a Union Minister for justice. If justice is not served, she plans to stage a protest with her family.
