Tata Motors Workers Union election concludes

Jamshedpur: Voting for the Tata Motors Workers Union elections ended at 5 PM on Tuesday. The counting of votes is set to begin at 6 PM at the Old Canteen Communication Hall, with results expected late in the night.

After the vote count, the newly elected committee members will hold their first meeting to discuss co-option. Following this, 25 office bearers will be chosen from the 85 committee members.

Several constituencies, including HVTL, Heat Treatment, Plant One Frame Shop, Engine, Way Eleven, Axle, and Common Services, are witnessing fierce competition. Notably, five candidates are vying for a single post in Common Services. The contest in Trim Line is also drawing significant attention.

Gurmeet Singh Tote is poised to be elected Union President for a third consecutive term. RK Singh is expected to retain the post of General Secretary.

Of the 85 committee seats, over 50 have already been filled unopposed, including several office bearers. Initially, 137 candidates collected nomination papers, with 128 filing nominations. After scrutiny, 121 nominations were deemed valid.

The election process highlights both strong contests in some areas and a significant number of uncontested positions, reflecting diverse dynamics within the union.
