Jamshedpur: A 46-year-old Tata Motors Ltd’s employee was killed as the bike he was riding hit a loaded dumper on Tata-Kandra road under Adityapur police station area late last night.
The victim, Umapada Gope, who was a resident of Road No 4 in Telco Colony was returning home from his parental house at Jhargovindpur in Gamharia.
The victim had put on his helmet, but as he was riding the bike at a very high speed he missed to see the dumper which was in motion at a very low speed in the same direction and rammed into it with great force. The mishap took place at the Ashiana More, about 4 Kms away from the heart of the city. OC, Adityapur police station Vijay Kumar Singh confirmed about the mishap.
He said the victim was rushed the victim to the MGM Medical College Hospital by an ambulance, but the doctors on the emergency duty declared him as brought dead.
The OC said they identified the body from the Aadhaar card the victim had kept on his wallet. He said they had subsequently informed the family members of the victim at Telco Colony and sent the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem this morning.
Gope was father of two daughters and a son. He would work as a temporary employee at the Tata Motors and had been regularised two years ago only.
