Tata Motors convoy drivers launch �Chipko Aandolan�

Jamshedpur, Feb. 11: Convoy drivers of Tata Motors have been protesting for minimum wages before the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner’s office since the last 30 days.

On the 31st day of their protest on Thursday, convoy drivers launched �Chipko Aandolan,� headed by JMM leader Babar Khan, Suman Mahato and Gyan Sagar.

�This is the 31st day of our protest, but the district administration had failed to provide the minimum wage through the government, which shows that it is under the pressure from the industrial house, Babar Khan alleged, adding, �Tata Motors and TTCA are benefiting from this and providing wage of mere Rs 68 for 8 hours to the convoy drivers, which is essentially anti-labour.�

Protesting at the DC office premises, convoy drivers climbed the trees and stuck to them. On the occasion Gyan Sagar, Pramod Lal and Suman Mahato were also present.

Khan further said that the protest will become more intense and on February 12, when they would by lying down in front of the DC office from 12 noon.

Kamaljeet Kaur Gill, Anwar Ali, Mohammed Samad Ansari, Gurmit Singh Gill, Rehan Mumtaz, Abdul Bari, Mohammed Khalid ANsari, Jaspal Singh, Harishankar Prasad, DInesh Pandey and others were present on the occasion.
