Mohammedan Sporting salvage draw; Smile Club register comfortable victory

Jamshedpur, July 15: Tata Motors started their Premier Division campaign in the JSA League with a convincing 3-1 victory over Tata Steel on Tuesday.

An early lead was taken by Tata Steel when Birsa Tudu scored in the third minute. However, the advantage was overturned in the second half by Tata Motors. The equaliser was scored by Rohit Tigga in the 54th minute before Haju Soren put his team ahead with a goal in the 60th minute. The victory was sealed in the 89th minute when Somchand Hansda found the net, ensuring a memorable derby win for Tata Motors.

In the Super Division, a 1-1 draw was played out between Singhbhum Soccer Fans Club and Mohammedan Sporting Club. The opening goal was scored by Raju Guia in the 39th minute to give Singhbhum Soccer Fans Club the lead. The advantage was maintained until the closing stages before an equaliser was scored by Mansingh Murmu in the 85th minute. The draw ensured that both teams shared a point in their opening match.

In the A Division (Group A), a winning start was made by Smile Club with a 2-0 victory over Gram Vikas Kendra. The lead was provided by Samir Sundi in the 24th minute, while the second goal was added by Pawan Purti in the 40th minute. A clean sheet was maintained by Smile Club throughout the second half to secure all three points and begin their campaign on a positive note.
