Tata Motors athletics meet kicks off at Telco Stadium

Jamshedpur, Feb 1: The 77th Tata Motors and 47th Inter-School Annual Athletics Meet 2025–26 was inaugurated on January 31, at the Sumant Moolgaokar Stadium in Telco. The event was formally opened by Chief Guest D B Sundara Ramam, Vice-President – Corporate Services, Tata Steel, along with Guest of Honour Sunil Tiwari, Head – Jamshedpur Plant, Tata Motors.

The inaugural ceremony began with the unfurling of the flag, followed by the Chief Guest declaring the meet open. The athletics meet saw enthusiastic participation from over 1,500 athletes representing Tata Motors, its associated companies, and various schools. In total, 23 teams are competing in more than 163 events across different categories.

Several senior officials and dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Ajitesh Monga, Plant Head – Tata Cummins; Pranav Kumar, General Manager – Human Resources; Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief – Sports, Tata Steel and CEO – JFC; Jivraj Singh Sandhu, GM – ERC; Anand Vardhan, GM – Legal Services; Satish Kadam, GM – Finance; and Dr Sanjay Kumar, Head – Medical Services.

Also present were Soumik Roy, GM – ER; V N Singh, Head – Administration and Security; Rajat Singh, Head – Town Administration; R K Singh, General Secretary; Shashi Bhushan Prasad, President of Tata Motors Workers Union, and other union representatives.

The meet aims to promote sportsmanship and encourage young athletes in the region.
