Jamshedpur, March 3: A delegation of Tata Workers Union office-bearers led by president Sanjeev Choudhary met Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran in the boardroom of Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur plant here on Thursday. Chandrasekaran, who arrived here after paying floral tribute to the Founder JN Tata, interacted with the union leaders for over 20 minutes.
Speaking to the Union leaders, Chandrasekaran said Jamshedpur was very close to his heart and that he loved talking to the company officials, employees and union leaders. He said the Tata group was doing a lot to reduce carbon emission and increase green cover in the city. The company is also working in the field of skill development he said.
The chairman congratulated the company management and union leadership for outstanding performance, sources said.
Earlier, the union leaders congratulated Chandrasekaran for getting Padma Bhushan and renewal of his tenure. They also posed for a photo with the chairman, Tata Steel MD and CEO TV Narendran, vice president (HRM) Atrayee Sarkar and other dignitaries.
The union functionaries demanded better civic amenities in the city and efforts to look after the mental health of employees. They said all Tata products should be made available to the people of Jamshedpur under one roof. They said a benchmark should be established in the field of electric vehicle, skill development and health facilities including bio-diversity.
