Tata- Alleppey Express resumes journey

Jamshedpur, Dec. 8: The Tata- Alleppey Express resumed journey after remaining cancelled for four consecutive days, but the train failed to get many passengers.

The train used to be jam-packed with waiting list figures crossing the 100-mark or so during normal time. However, when the train chugged on its journey today, the passengers were few in number in AC three tier, AC two tier and sleeper class.

“We were eagerly waiting for the train to resume its journey so that my wife can consult a doctor at the Christian Medical College for her kidney-related ailments. We got our tickets through to a local travel agent and are looking forward to the treatment, said a businessman from Bistupur in the city.

Notably, in view of the flood situations in Chennai, the South Eastern Railway had cancelled Tata-Alleppey Express for four days from December 3. This is the only daily express train linking the southern states with this part of the country.

Railway officials at Garden Reach, headquarters of South Eastern Railway, said that the Dhanbad connector Alleppey Express, which also remained cancelledfor the last three days, also resumed journey today.
