Task Force to Help Jamshedpur Become Clean and Encroachment-Free  

Evening Police Patrols to be Intensified on Bistupur M Road

 Jamshedpur: In a major push to upgrade municipal sanitation, clear illegal road occupancy, and enhance public safety, the Town Advisory Committee (TAC) finalized a series of critical development strategies during its high-level meeting held at the Tata Steel UISL Boardroom.

The meeting focused comprehensively on tackling long-standing civic grievances, including illegal parking, erratic garbage cleaning, pending residential flat maintenance, and widening the reach of clean domestic energy. The meeting was led by DB Sundara Ramam, vice president, corporate services, Tata Steel and Atul Bhatnagar, managing director, Tata Steel UISL.

Crackdown on Anti-Social Activities & Better Security

Addressing escalating public safety concerns, the committee passed strict directives to curb vandalism and substance abuse.

• Bistupur  M-Road: Following multiple reports of drug abuse and anti-social gatherings during evening hours at the local parking complex, authorities have directed local police to significantly step up regular evening patrolling.
• Agrico Workers Flats: To wipe out illicit activities breeding in darker patches of this locality, the TAC approved immediate infrastructure upgrades, including installing high-lumen street lighting and scheduling continuous security patrols.

Upgrading Sanitation and Housing Facilities

To push Jamshedpur closer to its cleanliness goals, major changes were implemented regarding garbage disposal and public recreation:

• Stepping Up Cleaning Cycles: The waste-clearing frequency in the Bistupur  commercial zone has been officially increased from two times a week to three times a week.
• Sidgora Nature Trail Park: To provide families and health enthusiasts more recreation time, the committee agreed to extend the park’s operating hours, keeping it open until 8:00 PM.
• Resolving Water Crisis: Urgent remedial measures were sanctioned to address the acute drinking water scarcity plaguing residents of the Baradwari Supervisor Flat area.
• Residential Infrastructure Repair: Structural evaluation and external maintenance work for older company flats will be expedited in a phased manner, with special focus on fixing degrading roofs across old residential quarters in Baridih.

De-congesting Roads: Truck Diversions and Anti-Encroachment Drives

Traffic congestion triggered by heavy vehicles was a primary focus point of the meeting. The committee agreed to divert commercial trucks away from main roads, utilizing the Burmamines Ground as a designated parking terminal for commercial vehicles.

Furthermore, extensive anti-encroachment operations and road repair work are slated to launch on the crucial stretch connecting the Cable Company Gate to the Tube Division Gate.

Helpline Launched for Citizens

With a strong push towards making the city smarter, the committee appealed to residents to actively report road blockages and illegal construction. Citizens have been requested to utilize the central Helpline Number: 46000 to instantly register complaints regarding civic encroachment. Additionally, residents were urged to swiftly transition to GAIL gas pipeline connections to support a greener urban ecosystem.
