Jamshedpur: Tagore Society’s celebratory programme on Rabindranath’s 162nd birth anniversary celebrations commenced at 5:30 in the morning on Tuesday with teachers and students of Tagore School of Arts and Tagore Academy jointly organized a Prabhat Pheri from the Rabindra Bhawan complex and moved along Baug-e-Jamsheed Chowk, Sakchi main roundabout, The Bengal Club crossing, the Jubilee Park Chowk before culminating at the Bhawan compound. In his tribute to Kobi Guru on the occasion of the Nobel Laureate’s 162nd birth anniversary celebrations, Tagore Society’s Vice President, Dr Gautam Dasgupta said that such great persons were born for the uplift of mankind. “Rabindranath’s creativity through his literary compositions, his art and music remain a towering lighthouse in the oceans of time as generations continue to blend with the colours of nature as portrayed by Rabindranath in his poetry and lyrics, of distinctive moods, social observations as he observed in his essays, stories and plays and above all, be it through his paintings or written masterpieces, his creativity had the flavors of kindness and compassion for all forms of life. Rabindranath Tagore relished and celebrated the seasons in a manner that remains unique.”
The students of Tagore School of Arts presented a programme of Rabindra Sangeet and dances composed on the poet’s lyrics. Kobi Guru’s birth anniversary celebrations again came alive in the evening with teachers and students of Tagore Society’s Tagore School of Arts and its Telco, Sonari, Kadma, Baridih and Cable branches continuing the gala of Rabindranath’s song and dance compositions as glowing tributes to one of the most revered universal litterateurs.
Gurudev’s birth anniversary celebrations will continue on May 10 and 11.e academy teachers will pay their ode to Rabindranath with their presentation of the Bard’s dance dramas and the Hindi version of his play, ‘Dena-Pawna.’ They will also present ‘Kunti Karna Sangbad’ in Shruti format. On May 11, the students of the Rabindra Bhawan branch of Tagore School of Arts will present short plays of the Vishwa Guru as well as the critically hailed dance drama, ‘Shyama.’ On the conclusion of the first day’s celebratory event, Tagore Society’s General Secretary, Ashis Chowdhury said, “It is beyond doubt that Kobi Guru Rabindranath was, is and will continue to remain a cultural and literary showcase. Celebrating Rabindranath is strengthening the link between the generations of yesterday and today to be extended to those of the many more tomorrows.”
