Tagore Society organizes blood donation camp on Tagore�s death anniversary

Jamshedpur, Aug 9: Tagore Society, known for its involvement in educational, cultural and community causes today organized a blood donation camp and conducted a tree plantation drive to commemorate Kavi Guru Rabindranath Tagore�s 78th death anniversary at Ravindra Bhawan in Sakchi.

The day�s schedule commenced with tree plantation within the vast premises of Rabindra Bhawan. Tagore Society President Dr HS Paul and General Secretary Asish Chowdhury also planted saplings during the ceremony. Later the President released a magazine for children. Tagore Academy students presented songs and dances based on Tagore�s compositions.

A blood donation camp was organized and conducted between 10:30 m and 3:30 pm. 47 units of blood were collected at the camp.

In the evening teachers and students of Tagore School of Arts present an ode to Kavi Guru through select works of the Nobel Laureate.

Speaking to the media, the Tagore Society General Secretary Asish Chowdhury stated that the purpose of organizing a cultural programme on the occasion of observing Rabindranath Tagore�s death anniversary was to remember him and take inspiration through his literary creations. He said even in present times Kavi Guru�s poems and songs find relevance in every season, every mood.
