Suspended from Tata Motors Ltd’s ancillary unit Jamshedpur youth commits suicide

Jamshedpur, August 9 : Suspended from a Tata Motors Ltd’s ancillary unit a 20-year-old youth, Prabhat Kumar committed suicide by setting himself on fire near his house at Kailash Nagar under Burmaminespolice station area.

Prabhat was rushed to Tata Main Hospital’s burn care unit by neighbours, but he died  within two hours. His body was today sent for post-mortem at the MGM Medical College in Dimna .

” We are in state of shock. Prabhatwas  under depression since the past three years during which he had attempted on his life twice. But, recent suspension of his job from the private company, Imperial Auto Industries Ltd, at Govindpur prompted to end his life,” said a close relative.

The youth was alone at home despite his father and step-mother. After losing his job he had become depressed and ultimately ended his life. Prabhatdid his schooling from BPM High School at Bumamines in 2017 and first year intermediate from ABM College in Golmuri before joining NTTF.

Prabhat’s father TarakNath is a former Tata Steel employee. Currently, he operates an auto-rickshaw.

“Though I had put him first in NTTF ( Nettur Technical Training Foundation ) at Golmuri and later at the Govindpur-based Tata Motors ancillary unit for gathering experience so that he may get a proper job in some big company ,” said Nath.

He, however, could not say exactly why his son took such extreme step, except that he was living in depression and would talk  less at home.

OC, Burmaminespolice station, Ram Yash Prasad said it was a case of suicide. ” As per initial probe it is a case of suicide. We have taken the statement of the deceased’s father and also from the people living in the neighbourhood at Kailash Nagar.  We have sent the body to the medical college mortuary for post-mortem,” said Prasad.
