Sushila and Nitu emerge winners at SHE Run in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, November 16:  The JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur, hosted the SHE Run, a powerful celebration of women’s empowerment, safety, and fitness, as women from diverse age groups took to demonstrate their strength and spirit. Organised by Tata Steel Sports Department, the event aimed to promote women’s wellness, encourage more women to participate in upcoming runs like the Jamshedpur Run, and send a strong message about women’s safety in the city, even in the evening hours.

The SHE Run featured participants in two age categories: 18-35 years and 35 years and above. The event witnessed impressive performances, with the following women emerging as top finishers in their respective categories:

Age Category: 35 and Above

  1. Nitu – Bib Number 754
  2. V. Rani – Bib Number 756
  3. Mamta – Bib Number 753

 

Age Category: 18-35 years

  1. Sushila Samad – Bib Number 801
  2. Nirmala Soy – Bib Number 828
  3. Aditi Murmu – Bib Number 806

The event also recognised and celebrated special participants, including Khushi Kumari, aged 18, who was the youngest female participant and demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and dedication. Mamta Prusty was recognised for her inspiring effort of running in a saree, showcasing the spirit of women embracing challenges. Sonali Kumari was adjudged the Best Dressed participant, receiving accolades for her vibrant and spirited attire. Dr. Radhika Naayan, aged 53, was recognised as the eldest participant, inspiring all with her energy and commitment to fitness.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Alokananda Ray, Chief Consultant, Obs & Gynae, Tata Steel, who emphasised the importance of women’s health and wellness. Guest of Honour Mrs. Shalini Sulakshana, Head, Ethics, Tata Steel, highlighted the role of women in driving positive change. Guests Mrs. Purabi Ghosh and Munmun Chakraborty, Founder President, Sanskriti Shoshan Welfare Foundation, also shared their thoughts on women’s empowerment.

The SHE Run was intentionally scheduled for the evening to convey a message of safety and encouragement for women to step out of their homes and participate in sports and community activities, even during late hours.

The SHE Run was a testament to the determination and spirit of the women who participated, making it a memorable and uplifting experience for all involved.
