Jamshedpur: Nearly 48 hours after the suspected abduction of Kairav Gandhi (23), son of leading industrialist Devang Chandra Gandhi, anxiety and anger continue to grip Jamshedpur and the entire Kolhan industrial belt as police are yet to trace the victim or establish concrete leads.
No Ransom Call Yet, Mystery Deepens
Despite extensive searches and technical surveillance, no ransom call or message has been received by the family so far, deepening the mystery and intensifying fears about Kairav’s safety. Senior police officials admit that the absence of communication from the abductors makes the case more complex and raises the possibility of a well-planned crime.
Sources in the police department confirmed that investigators are examining whether the abductors deliberately destroyed and concealed Kairav’s mobile phone to prevent tracking and delay rescue operations.
Abandoned Vehicle Raises Serious Security Concerns
The recovery of Kairav’s Hyundai Creta from the Kanderbera stretch of NH-33 remains the most critical clue so far. Investigators believe the location was strategically chosen due to low traffic and limited CCTV coverage at night.
“The condition of the car clearly indicates that Kairav was intercepted and forcibly taken away. This was not a random act,” a senior police officer said on condition of anonymity.
Business Community Demands SIT, High-Level Monitoring
The abduction has triggered widespread outrage within the industrial community of Adityapur and Jamshedpur. Several industry bodies have jointly demanded the immediate constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under senior IPS officers and round-the-clock monitoring of the case at the state level.
Police Expand Probe Beyond District Borders
With no breakthrough so far, police teams have expanded search operations to neighbouring districts and bordering states. Toll plaza data, highway surveillance, and hotel records along NH-33 and NH-32 are being scrutinized. Special emphasis is being laid on identifying any vehicles that may have followed or intercepted Kairav after he was last seen in Sonari.
Officials confirmed that both ransom and business rivalry angles remain open, while investigators are also verifying Kairav’s recent movements after his return from Mumbai.
Family Appeals for Swift Action
The Gandhi family, meanwhile, remains in deep distress. Family members have appealed to the administration to act swiftly and ensure Kairav’s safe return. “Every passing hour is critical. We request the authorities to leave no stone unturned,” a relative said.
