Supreeti first girl to break into JEE Advanced top 10 rankings from Jamshedpur

250 Jamshedpur students clear engineering exam  

Jamshedpur, Oct 5: Students of the Steel City have once again proved their merit in the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Advanced 2020 exam, the result of which was announced by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) on Monday afternoon. Around 250 students of Jamshedpur have cleared JEE Advanced to secure their place in country’s premier engineering institute the IIT. 711 students appeared the JEE Advanced exam from Jamshedpur.

Kumar Devesh of DBMS English School emerged city�s topper with AIR 339 in the JEE (Advanced), the results of which were declared on Monday morning. He is a resident of Adityapur.

Meanwhile, Supreeti Kumari, a student of Rajendra Vidyalaya who was the Jamshedpur topper in JEE Mains with AIR 369, stood second in JEE Advanced with 393 rank. Daughter of an assistant manager at Tata Steel, Supreeti passed out from Rajendra Vidhyalaya, Sakchi and wants to pursue engineering from IIT. Mango resident Supreeti not only bagged the second position in Jamshedpur and entire Kolhan region but for the very first time a girl student has featured in top 10 list of JEE Advanced from Jamshedpur.  

Rushil Venkateswar from Little Flower School bagged third position in Jamshedpur with AIR 473. Rushil Venkateswar scored 96.25 per cent marks in ISC class 12 exams 2020. He was also the third school topper in ISC exam.

Vinayak Srivastava who scored AIR 732 in JEE Mains has bagged the fourth position in JEE Advanced with AIR 767.

Mayank Kumar Panda of DAV Public School Bistupur has clinched the fifth spot in Jamshedpur with AIR 1386. Mayank had bagged the first position in Jamshedpur (Science) in CBSE Class 12 exam 2020. Son of Tata Bluescope employee Pradeep Kumar, Mayank scored 97.2 % marks is aiming for a career in Research and development (R&D) after completing his engineering from IIT Bombay.

Anish Roy from Little Flower School clinched 6th position in Jamshedpur scoring AIR 1393.

Expressing views on this year�s results Shyam Bhushan, director of Narayana IIT , one of the premier coaching institutes of the city, said that he is satisfied with the overall result but he was expecting much better numbers.  ” A total of 40 students have registered a stellar performance in the exam. We are happy with the overall performance. The trend was a bit different and easy going this time ,” said Bhushan.

Despite various career opportunities emerging in the field of education, engineering still rules the roost among the students of the city. Every year, the toppers of ISC and CBSE examinations feel that engineering from a premium institute that is Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is their only choice.

The Steel City has a fair track record of IIT. Every year about 300 students crack the IIT entrance examination, which is considered to be toughest in the country. The performance rate of the students can be gauged from the fact that Abhinav Kumar of Loyola School secured 1st All India rank during the 1996-1997.
Dhanbad�s Anushka Kumari has emerged as Jharkhand topper with an All India Rank (AIR) of 177 in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2020, results of which were declared on Monday.

Daughter of a LIC officer, Anushka cracked the examination in her first attempt. She scored 265 out of 396 marks in the examination. Anushka passed the Class 12 board examination from Doon Public School (DPS), Dhanbad, with 96.4% marks, this year.

According to official information, as many as 1,50,838 candidates appeared in both papers 1 and 2 in JEE Advanced 2020. Out of the total candidates, 43,204 have qualified JEE Advanced 2020.
