Jamshedpur, Oct 5: Gunshots rattled the peace and tranquility of the city once again when two persons were injured, one of them seriously after a gang of armed criminals shot at a mob in Dhatkidih A – Block under Bistupur police station area.
Those injured were identified as Mohammed Mustaqeem (50) and Mohammed Qayum (32) who are residents of Dhatkidih. They were rushed to the Tata Main Hospital where the condition of Mustaqeem is said to be serious.
According to information, a gang of six bike-borne criminals came to their friend’s house at A-block in Dhatkidih. One Mohammed Salman, the criminals had first met their friend, Mohammed Zaidy at the Tata Main Hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
Later they came to Zaidy’s house to meet his parents for discussion. Significantly, Zaidy (22) had sustained grievous injury in his neck while he attempted to commit suicide at his home in Dhatkidih on Friday.
A local resident said that the group of six youths while talking to Zaidy’s parents had blamed the latter for forcing their friend to commit suicide.
” The parents are blaming him for forcing his son to make suicide attempt. The group of youths had also claimed that Zaidy’s parents were not taking proper care of their son.
As there was a commotion due to the dispute by the visiting group of youths, people started gathering. When one of us intervened and tried to know the reason behind noise, the youths in question lost their cool and abused us.
Then some of us also protested the abuse but instead of moving from the scene completely, they had started firing at us,” narrated the resident.
He said all the six youths were armed with pistols and they all were firing at the local residents, causing Mustaqeem and Qayum to sustain the bullet injuries.
Soon after the firing a police party led by Bistupur police station OC, Ranvijay Sharma arrived shortly at the spot, but by that time the attackers had disappeared from the scene.
Later City SP, Subhash Cnandra Jat also arrived at the spot and started the investigation.
Jat said that all those inflicted gun-shot injuries to two persons at Dhatkidih are residents of Sitaramdera and Parsudih police station area.
The city has witnessed a substantial rise in the number of attacks, thefts and loot taking place across the city.
While the deteriorating law and order situation in the city remains a major concern, the police personnel are busy in cooperating with the district administration in fighting against the spread of Coronavirus.
