Superstition takes life of Sabar youth suffering from fever in Ghatshila

Ghatshila, Feb 5: Superstition and faith in sorcery led to a Sabar youth losing life in Haludbani village in Ghatshila sub-division of East Singhbhum district.

The youth identified as Moti Sabar, wife Moni informed that he was having fever for the last 10 days and was under treatment of a village quack who practiced sorcery.  They had gone to the quack at Mosaboni on the advice of the villagers who told that the youth was affected by some evil spirit and can be cured by the sorcerer.

The wife also said that since a long time mobile health unit of the health department had not visited their village neither do any doctors frequent their village.

The family had also lost their another son four years back  when Mangal Sabar had gone in search of employment to Bengal but has not returned since.  They requested the administration to trace their son but no action has been taken.
