Launches ‘NANHA SA DIL’ Child Heart Program at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital

Jamshedpur, April 27: The Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital in Jamshedpur had the privilege of hosting the esteemed presence of legendary cricketer and Padma Bhushan awardee, Sunil Gavaskar, who serves as a Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust. Gavaskar’s visit aimed to showcase the hospital’s outstanding efforts in providing free-of-cost maternal and child healthcare services in Jharkhand.
During his visit, Gavaskar conducted a comprehensive tour of the hospital facilities, interacting with staff and spending time in various departments, including the wards, laboratory, operation theatre, and outpatient department. His presence brought joy and encouragement to both the hospital staff and beneficiaries, reflecting his unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes.
Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital in Jamshedpur commenced its services in September 2022, having managed over 13,000 ophthalmic outpatients, 15,000 obstetric outpatients, 1,500 outpatient screenings, and over 669 deliveries, all provided completely free of cost. The hospital now plans to expand its services and initiate a screening facility for children with congenital heart disease.
A significant highlight of the visit was the launch of Project “NANHA SA DIL,” in collaboration with COAL INDIA Limited’s CSR program. This initiative focuses on screening, diagnosing, and providing surgical care to children with Congenital Heart Defects in Jharkhand. Gavaskar, along with representatives from COAL India Ltd, flagged off outreach vehicles and distributed HD Stethoscopes for screening children with heart defects.
Expressing gratitude to COAL India for their crucial support, Gavaskar emphasized the importance of ensuring quality healthcare for children in Jharkhand, providing them with an opportunity for a life of good health and well-being.
Dr. C. Sreenivas, Chairman of Sri Sathya Sai Health & Education Trust, expressed gratitude to various supporters and volunteers for their unwavering support to Sai Sanjeevani. He highlighted Gavaskar’s invaluable contribution as a Trustee, referring to him affectionately as “The Little Loving Master,” who passionately advocates for the well-being of the country’s little hearts.
During the event, Gavaskar presented “Gift of Life” Certificates to four children who underwent life-saving heart surgeries at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals and “Janmotsav” certificates to mothers who delivered at the hospital. He encouraged the beneficiaries to instill values of compassion and kindness in their children, ensuring they become contributing citizens of the country.
In his address, Gavaskar extended heartfelt gratitude to all present for their unwavering support, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts towards driving national development, particularly in ensuring the well-being of mothers and children. The event concluded with Gavaskar personally meeting and thanking the guests for their continued support towards the hospital’s activities.
