Summer water supply plan finalized in Jamshedpur, roster system to ensure regular supply

Jamshedpur: A comprehensive review meeting of municipal schemes was conducted under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal at the Collectorate. The meeting focused on assessing progress in civic amenities, urban transport systems, air quality improvement, drinking water supply, and solid waste management. Necessary directives were issued to ensure timely implementation and completion of ongoing projects.

During the review, Jugsalai Nagar Parishad reported the implementation of four urban transport schemes for the financial year 2024-25, with one already completed. Out of five civic amenities schemes, one has been completed. Additionally, 15 air quality improvement projects funded under the 15th Finance Commission were reviewed, where work on 11 schemes has been completed, one is ongoing, and three are in the tendering process. Meanwhile, 40 approved schemes for drinking water and waste management were discussed, of which 30 have been completed, three are ongoing, and four are in the tendering process.

JNAC (Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee) presented its progress, revealing that out of 30 urban transport projects, 12 have been completed, 12 are in progress, and work on six will commence this week. For civic amenities, out of 26 schemes, work is ongoing on eight, six are awaiting agreements, while five will start after necessary approvals from Jusco, and the remaining seven are expected to begin within a week.

Similarly, Mango Municipal Corporation reported progress in 25 urban transport projects, where seven have been completed, six are ongoing, nine are in the process of agreement, and three face site-related disputes. Out of 50 civic amenities projects, eight have been completed, nine are in progress, 32 are under agreement, and one has a site dispute. From the 15th Finance Commission’s air quality improvement schemes, four projects have been completed, while 14 remain in progress.

In addition to the 2024-25 financial year projects, pending schemes from 2023-24 were also reviewed, with the District Magistrate instructing officials to expedite their completion. Special attention was given to solid waste management, emphasizing efficient door-to-door garbage collection and waste disposal. As summer approaches, he directed authorities to ensure adequate drinking water supply, particularly in tanker-dependent areas, by implementing a pre-planned roster system for uninterrupted supply.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhagirath Prasad, Deputy Municipal Commissioner JNAC Krishna Kumar, Assistant Municipal Commissioners Aaqib Javed (Mango), Sandeep Paswan (Jugsalai), Chandan Kumar (Chakulia Nagar Panchayat), along with City Managers, Engineers, and other key officials.
