Goa, Bengal, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand Win on Day 2 of Hockey Sub-Junior Women’s Nationals

Ranchi: Goans Hockey secured a dominant victory in Division ‘C’, while Hockey Bengal, Hockey Chandigarh, and Hockey Uttarakhand triumphed in Division ‘B’ on the second day of the 16th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship 2026.


Highlights from the Pitch

The day featured high-scoring clashes and clinical defensive displays at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda International Astro-turf Stadium:

  • Goans Hockey vs. Telangana Hockey (6-3): Captain Dellina Mendes (40′, 41′) and Bertila Kerketta (48′, 52′) each netted a brace to lead Goa to a convincing win.

  • Hockey Bengal vs. Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu (1-0): Captain Puja Kumari Shaw scored the game’s only goal in the 21st minute to snatch a narrow victory.

  • Hockey Chandigarh vs. Hockey Gujarat (12-1): Chandigarh delivered a masterclass in attacking hockey. Captain Kafi headlined the match with four goals (38′, 46′, 55′, 60′), supported by braces from Annu, Aanchal, and Nancy Kashyap.

  • Hockey Uttarakhand vs. Hockey Karnataka (6-1): Kareena stole the show with a stunning early hat trick (10′, 12′, 17′), while Captain Minakshi, Devyani Joshi, and Diya added to the tally.


Tournament Standings

Following strong opening-day performances by Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, today’s winners have solidified their positions in the group stages. The championship continues to showcase the rising talent of India’s sub-junior women athletes in the heart of Jharkhand’s sports hub.
