Jamshedpur, March 2: Members of Surabhi, the women’s wing of Marwari Yuva Manch (MYM) Steel City are observing International Women’s Day through a week long programme of social activities. A team of Surabhi members led by unit president Manisha Sanghi visited Punjab Girls’ High School in Refugee Colony on Tuesday and organized an open forum discussion on ‘Good Touch – Bad Touch’ moderated by chief guest DAV school teacher Vandana Agrawal.
Vandana explained, “If someone’s touch makes you feel good, that is Good Touch and if it makes you feel bad or uneasy then that is Bad Touch. If an unknown person deliberately touches you at inappropriate places then again that is Bad Touch.”
The chief guest, in the course of her interaction with the students attributed cases of ascending criminal offences against minors and other young girls to ignorance and lack of awareness. She observed, “Parents limit their responsibilities towards bringing up the girl children to good education, healthy food, wearing decent clothes and respecting elders. But present times are such that a girl child should be provided basic sex education with special emphasis on ‘Good Touch – Bad Touch.’ But unfortunately, parents are usually on the backfoot on issues related to sex education of their children. This is a big reason for sexual exploitation of children.”
The other Surabhi members included secretary Usha Chowdhary, Muskan Agrawal, Jyoti Agrawal, Archana, Riti and others. They distributed chips, biscuits and soft drinks among the children.
