Students of Madarasa Faizul Ulum take to street against mismanagement

Jamshedpur: Hundreds of students of Madarasa Faizul Ulum, Dhatkidih, today staged demonstration against alleged mismanagement at the madarasa. They blocked the Dhatkidih main road for several hours after going on rampage on the hostel premises and burnt tyres in the middle of the road to register their protest.

The protestors raised slogans against the management and demanded the formation of a new committee to manage the institution. The agitation however caused resentment among local residents who started gheraoing the students to protest their way of agitation. Soon police was called in to settle the issue.

DSP Jacintha Kerketta and the officer in-charge of Bistupur police station Jitendra Singh reached the spot and asked the protesting students to register a complaint with the police station. The DSP said the students should have taken up the matter peacefully with the madarasa management instead of disturbing public peace and causing inconvenience to the public. She also asked the student if they had sought prior permission of the district administration before organizing the agitation programme.

The students later handed over a memorandum to the DSP demanding fulfillment of their demands and mentioning reason of their agitation.

In view of the agitation, the madarasa management closed its hostel sine die by issuing a notice. The honorary secretary of the madarasa management committee Mohammad Hafiz Hasim Quadri Misbahi said the students would have to follow the hostel norms while they studied here.

Among those present during the agitation included Raza Ul Islam, Irshad Anwar, Afzal Hussain, Sada Hussain, Yusuf Raza, Muib Raza, Abdul Qadir, Taslim Raza, Abdul Rashid and Suleman Akhtar.
