Jamshedpur : A group of 60 science students of Incab Kerala Public School, Cable town area, Jamshedpur accompanied by five teachers Swati Singh, Tanuja Pandey, Rani Kumari, Prabha Sarkar and Nitu Sinha visited CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur today and interacted with the working scientists and research fellows under the aegis of faculty training and motivation, adoption of schools by CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur sponsored by HRDG, CSIR, New Delhi.
While motivating the students about science, Dr. N.G. Goswami, Chief Scientist, NML and Co-ordinator of the programme said ” Nature guards within it enormous untold and unseen truth. Thus, critical observations and passion to know more and more are the tools to unravel the mystery of nature. Science helps us to learn things happening in nature”.
The students were thrilled and attentive throughout the programme which comprised of presentations, lively discussions with scientists and research scholars, practical demonstrations, visit around the selective units of the laboratory.
“This is my first visit to NML and I loved everything about the place. The way things demonstrated, interaction with the scientists, the lively atmosphere and the hospitality shown. Thanks to CSIR-NML for this wonderful opportunity. I look forward to visit again”, said Amit Thava, a student of Std. IX.
“Today I felt as if the visit to the lab must have never ended. For me this is just a wonderful programme. I learnt a lot. Thanks to CSIR for such a noble venture”, said Pritam Kumar vastava, a student of Std. IX.
“The best thing I have learnt from the visit is that ideas should never be wasted, rather we should look for ways to implement it and explore new horizons for the benefit of mankind”, said Manisha Chowrasiya, a student of Std. IX.
“Today I understood the simplicity behind science. I learnt that anything that is done with true interest makes things simpler”, said Priti Kumari a student of Std. X.
“It was really a wonderful experience visiting the laboratory and knowing in depth about ores, metals and minerals”, Kumari Rita Rani, visiting student said.
Sindhu Kumari, a student of Std. IX said, “The interaction has driven me to think about my career. My thoughts have now surely got a new dimension. I feel more inclined towards my future goals in life”. “I learnt how to study science”, said Supriya of Std. IX after the visit.
“We really feel motivated and inclined towards science after the laboratory visit. I now look forward to shape up my career in the field of science and do something for our nation”, said, Shubham Mishra and Md. Mujahit Ansari, students of Std. X.
“I came to learn that even Steel giant companies like Tata Steel, Essar Steel are helped by NML. It shows how NML is contributing to the industrial growth of our country”, said Anshu Kumar, a student of Std. X.
All the students were of the opinion that the interaction was very informative and brought a lot of ideas. Teachers requested for their next visit to the lab for the remaining batches of students.
