Student leaders engage in free-for-all at Jamshedpur’s Graduate College

Students allege anomalies in B.Ed admission

Jamshedpur, Oct. 1: In protest against rejection of B.Ed admission, studentsí union members agitated in front of the Graduate School College for Women. A section of students exchanged blows during agitation. The policemen posted near the campus rushed to the spot to control the situation.

The Graduate School College for Women, a constituent college of Kolhan University rejected the admission of 28 B.Ed applicants through a notification alleging that there were errors in the admission process. In protest about 14 students led by students union sat on an agitation in front of the college in Sakchi demanding a probe alleging anomalies.

While student were protesting, activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) made an attempt to stop students to protest and indulged in a brawl that resulted in minor injuries to two students.

Satrupa Srivastava, principal of Graduate School College for Women said that the officials in charge of B.Ed admission started taking admission based on first come first serve basis which was not correct. Ideally after application, there is a review and admission depend on a merit list. They did not make a list at all.

As soon as we got to learn we stopped the admission. We have also showcaused the officials involved.
