Student of DBMS English School drowns at Beldih Lake, family alleges murder

Jamshedpur, Aug. 21 : Mystery shrouds the death of a 16-year-old student of DBMS English School whose body was found in Beldihlake at Dhatkidih under Bistupur police station area early on Monday morning.

The deceased, identified as Fardeen Khan was a resident of B-Block in Dhatkidih and student of standard X in DBMS English School.

Fardeen’s body was found floating in the lake near his house. According to information, he had gone away from his house without informing anyone at 3 am on Sunday, leading the family members to search for him throughout the day.

One of his uncles, Gulrez Khan, had even lodged a verbal complaint with the Bistupurthana about the disappearance of the boy on Sunday.

A local who stays at the adjoining Radio Maidan saw a body floating in the lake and informed the police. A police party arrived at the spot and recovered the body. Soon the body was identified as that of the missing student.

When the body was taken out of the lake it was found that there was mark of injuries in his left temple. Bleeding was still on from his nose and ear. .

The deceased’s uncle Gulrez claimed this to be a case of murder. ” We are really shocked. We demand probe. My nephew had received a call at about 3 am on Sunday and after receiving it he had gone out of the house.

My mother had seen the light of a room in rear side of the house on at about 4 am. Then she came and checked Fardeen’s room where he was not there. Since Sunday early mornng, we had been searching for Fardeen and had even lodged a verbal complaint with the Bistupur.

Finally, his body was found floating today in the Beldih lake,” said Gulrez.

Fardeen was the only child of Samsher Khan who works in a company at Qatar. “We have kept the body at the MGM Medical College Hospital morgue and we will allow the police to conduct a post-mortem only after my elder brother comes from Qatar,” said Gulrez.

Deputy superintendent of police (police control room) Sudhir Kumar who looks after the Bistupurthana, however, claimed it to be a case of drowning.

” We are investigating the incident. There was no foul play with the teenager. It is absolutely a case of drowning. We are sending the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem,” said Kumar.

The DSP said bleeding from the nose and ear is common in the drowning case and the injury might have caused by a jump into the lake.
