Student arrested for threatening post on Second Pulwama Attack

Jamshedpur: In a swift operation, Uttar Pradesh Police apprehended Mohd. Talha Mazhar, a student hailing from Kapali Millatnagar in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, from a madrassa in Deoband, Saharanpur district. The arrest followed a threatening post on his social media account regarding a potential second Pulwama attack, which had gained traction online.
The alarming post prompted the intervention of Saharanpur Police, local Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), and the Intelligence Department, initiating a thorough investigation. Subsequently, the accused student was taken into custody, interrogated, and subsequently sent to jail. An FIR has been filed against him under sections 295A, 153B, and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code at the Khankah police post of Deoband.
During the arrest, law enforcement authorities seized a mobile phone, a pocket diary, and various objectionable posts and screenshots of messages from the student’s social media account on the ‘X’ platform (Twitter). The confiscated mobile phone has been sent to the forensic lab for detailed examination.
Mohd. Talha Mazhar’s father, Mohd. Abdul Kapali, resides in Millatnagar.
