Strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake rocks Nepal, shakes Northern India

New Delhi /Patna: A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 struck Nepal on the night of November 3rd, sending tremors rippling across northern India, including the nation’s capital, New Delhi. The seismic event occurred at 11:32 pm local time, taking people by surprise as they were gearing up for the weekend. Fortunately, immediate reports indicate no loss of life or significant property damage resulting from the quake.

The earthquake’s impact extended beyond Nepal’s borders, with reports confirming tremors felt in various regions of northern India, notably Bihar, including cities such as Patna, Katihar, Motihari, and several districts situated along the Indo-Nepal border. This widespread effect underscores the considerable reach of the seismic activity.

The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) has furnished details about the earthquake’s characteristics. According to their findings, the earthquake’s epicenter was located in Nepal, approximately 227 kilometers north of Ayodhya and 331 kilometers west-northwest of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. The focal depth of the earthquake was measured at 10 kilometers.
