Calls for public officials’ and government employees’ kids in government schools

Ranchi: A PIL filed in the Jharkhand High Court advocates significant education reform. The petition, initiated by RTI activist Pankaj Kumar Yadav, emphasizes the urgent need to address critical issues in the state’s education system. Key demands include appointing teachers in over 7000 single schools, replacing dilapidated government schools with new ones, and mandating that children of government employees and public representatives attend government schools to enhance education quality.

The petition underscores the scarcity of teachers, high student absenteeism, inadequate facilities, and poor safety measures. Over 7000 single-teacher schools exist, with students from various grades taught in a single room by one teacher using a single blackboard.

Pankaj Yadav has provided evidence from an NGO investigation and the government’s response in the Assembly. The PIL seeks to improve Jharkhand’s education system, promoting reform and mandatory attendance in government schools for the children of government employees and public representatives.
