Ranchi: On Monday, a widespread educational strike took place in Jharkhand, impacting unfunded intermediate colleges, high schools, Sanskrit schools, and madrassas. The entrance gates of 1250 educational institutions remained locked, disrupting teaching and other educational activities. Approximately 10,000 teachers and employees participated in demonstrations, demanding a fourfold increase in the grant amount, recognition as state employees, and salaries for education workers in non-funded institutions.
Despite thousands of students reaching their respective schools and colleges, disappointment prevailed as the institutions were closed due to the strike. The protest is part of the phased movement organized by the Jharkhand Unaided Education Joint Sangharsh Morcha, addressing long-pending demands.
The movement aims to secure better funding, recognition, and employment benefits for teachers and employees in these educational institutions.
A meeting under the chairmanship of Kundan Kumar Singh, reviewing the preparations for the Mahadharna program scheduled in front of the Jharkhand Assembly on December 19, emphasized the collective efforts to address the concerns and demands of the education sector.
