Jamshedpur: The deputy commissioner (DC) of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar here on Saturday stressed on strengthening the basic infrastructure in the 30 villages situated in extremism-hit areas of the district in a bid to ensure their speedy development.
Addressing a meeting convened at the DC office to review the work plan for the development of the 30 villages selected for the purpose, the DC said the condition of the buildings of schools, anganwadi centres, health centres, panchayats and other important institutions should be improved as the public opinion regarding the same depended on their outwardly appearance.
He further said that the quality of roads and availability of ration and timely disbursement of pension were some of the things that go into making public opinion regarding governance and the administrative machinery.
�The state government wants to ensure timely and efficient implementation of the work plan made for the development of the Naxalism-affected villages. The villages selected for the purpose have been picked from six clusters,� he said.
Kumar asked BSNL authorities to construct mobile towers near CRPF camp in Bara Asti and Bhanwardih villages to ensure smooth communication.
Directing the officials of various government departments to adopt an integrated and intensive approach towards the development of the said villages, Kumar said the next review meeting will be held in one of the villages in the six clusters. The monthly review of the works will be held on the last Wednesday of every month, he said.
The DC underlined the need for improving basic civic amenities in the villages such as roads, electricity and drinking water supply, disbursement of pension and distribution of ration. He directed the district education officer to conduct a survey to identify dropout children in the villages.
He said the dropout children should be admitted to the Kasturba Gandhi Residential School and the residential school for boys run by the welfare department. He said the data regarding the dropout children should be collected compulsorily within 15 days.
The DC directed the welfare department officials to replace anganwadi sevikas and sahayikas as per requirement. He also directed them to send proposals to set up new anganwadi centres as per need. He said that all anganwadi centres should be run as model anganwadi centres in the extremism-hit areas.
The SSP said the police department was also focussing on the 30 villages in extremism-hit areas. He said that civic amenities should be made available in the villages to curb violence and create better a peaceful environment.
Kumar also sought updates on the condition of Sakhi Mandals in Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society and directed the officials concerned to provide bank linkage to the villagers.
He also briefed them on revolving fund.
The DC asked the skill development officer to prepare a list of educated unemployed youths and hold camps in rural areas for imparting training to such youths as per their inclination and skills. He asked the officer to prepare a village-wise roster in such camps and link interested youths to Gurukul.
The DC further asked the district civil surgeon to hold special health camps in the villages and ensure proper treatment of the sick at the earliest. He also asked the officials concerned to construct dobhas (farm ponds used as water reservoir) to help irrigation work.
The DC said that the Chief Secretary and the DGP will be conducting review of the development work being carried out in the 30 villages by visiting the villages every month.
