Muzaffarpur: In a surprising turn of events in Muzaffarpur district, Bihar, a woman who underwent sterilization continued to give birth, having delivered two children post-operation.
The woman, a resident of Kevatsa in the Gaighat area, raised the issue with the Sadar Hospital’s CS office. She underwent sterilization in 2015 but became pregnant in 2018 and 2020. The District Magistrate took the matter seriously, ordering an investigation into the woman’s repeated pregnancies. After the second sterilization, the woman is once again pregnant in 2023.
The family demands action and proper compensation, citing the health department’s negligence. The rules stipulate that in such cases, information must be provided to the health department within 90 days, and compensation of Rs 30,000 is granted for each child born post-sterilization.
